Morgantown Elementary School
to be SBA’s Second Green School
Williamson Shriver Architects is honored to be selected by the Monongalia County Board of Education and Congratulations to them to have been funded as the second LEED Certified School granted for construction by the School Building Authority of West Virginia. The project is planned to be located along the mileground in Morgantown, WV. Energy conscious strategies have yet to be determined but the project is to target a LEED Silver Certification as established in the United States Green Building Council’s 2009 LEED for Schools program. The school is slated for completion for fall 2013.

Spring Mills Primary School
to be SBA’s First Green School
Design work is nearing completion for Spring Mills Primary School, a Kindergarten through second grade facility that will become the School Building Authority of WV’s first LEED Certified School. The project is located north of Martinsburg, WV in Berkeley County in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. Energy conscious features that are being designed into the building include insulated concrete walls, daylighting strategies throughout the building, a geothermal HVAC system, several water saving features including a food waste pulping system. The project is being designed targeting a LEED Silver Certification as established in the United States Green Building Council’s LEED for Schools program. The school is slated for completion in late summer of 2010. Conceptual Rendering We are proud to announce that Eddie Bumpus, AIA has passed his LEED AP exam.
LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System.
